Inverter / Chargers

An inverter / charger is exactly as the name suggests, it converts DC power to AC (inverting) and will charge batteries as well. Some are fully bi-directional in that they will charge your batteries as well as using DC power from your batteries to run AC loads by “inverting” DC into AC.

Many modern inverter / chargers have much more extra functionality. Victron’s power assist allows the Multiplus and Quattro inverter / charger to supplement an AC supply (from shore power or a generator) with “inverted” DC energy from your systems batteries when the AC supply is being used to capacity but more energy is needed to satisfy a short term surge.

Inverter / chargers with dual dedicated AC inputs, one for the mains, another for the generator. Each set independently for seamless transfer.
